Tips for an Eco-Friendly Travel

Summer is just around the corner and with it comes vacations and travel. This year, besides deciding on your destination, we want you to think about your ecological footprint as well. So, we'll give you some tips on how to have a more eco-friendly travel, and in the end, you'll see what small changes you can help the environment.

Avoid airplanes

Did you know that most carbon emissions come from air travel? Airplanes emit more than 350 grams of CO2 per kilometre per passenger. To travel in an environmentally friendly way, always choose the most environmentally friendly means of transportation, such as trains and the bus.

If it is really necessary to travel by plane, when you arrive at your destination, avoid using individual transport, such as taxi, and prefer public transport.

Choose eco-responsible accommodation

An eco-friendly travel also involves choosing the right accommodation. To do this, avoid hotels and opt for youth hostels or accommodation with local people.

Pack light

Take only the essentials with you. To do this, we suggest you take smaller bag and fewer clothes. Choose clothes that are comfortable and can be worn for several occasions. Even if it is only a few clothes, remember that you can always wash them and use them again.  To be eco-friendly down to your feet, take practical shoes, such as sustainable sneakers.

Pack light reduces fuel, because the less weight, the less fuel is used, and therefore carbon emissions will also be lower.

Eat local food

The good side of a vacation is getting to know a little bit of the culture and without a doubt, food is one of the best ways to do that.

Take advantage of local restaurants, you can even go away from the touristy areas to find unique restaurants.

If you prefer cooking, you can also visit and shop at a local market. This way you will also help the local economy.

Choose responsible activities

An eco-friendly travel also means taking care of animals and paying attention to how they are treated.

To do this, avoid activities that involve animals, such as the circus. In other words, avoid participating in activities that highlight animal abuse.

Be outdoors

A unique experience would be camping in the middle of nature.  Make the most of outdoor activities and reconnect with nature.

Do not relax

Vacations are definitely a time to relax, but do not let yourself relax when it comes to certain things. Even on vacation, do not forget to recycle, turn off the lights, and turn off the faucets, for example.

We hope that these tips have been helpful and that you will put them into practice in the future.

As you can see, have an eco-friendly travel is not that difficult. With a few actions and some effort, you can plan your trip and be eco-friendly at the same time!
