What is the meaning of a brand being certified by PETA?

As you may have noticed, Verney is a PETA-certified brand, but do you know what that means? In this article we will explain to you what PETA is and what the PETA-Approved Vegan label means. Let's have a look.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is a non-profit organisation, founded in March 1980, whose aim is to defend animal rights.

PETA has over 6.5 million members and supporters and is therefore considered the largest animal rights organisation in the world.

PETA's work is based on 4 main issues: factory farming, fur farming, animal testing and animal entertainment. It also deals with other issues, such as fishing and meat consumption.

As we know, animals also feel suffering and should not be used by humans in any way, be it in our clothes or for entertainment. This is one of PETA's principles and something they try to defend as much as possible. Therefore, besides defending animal rights, they also try to raise people's awareness and above all give them important information. This is because lack of information is often one of the main causes of preventing changes from taking place.

PETA has a worldwide impact and although it was created in the United States, it has several international affiliates. We can find its presence in countries such as France, Germany or even the United Kingdom.

The awareness and sensitization to animal protection has slowly resulted, as some companies and brands are making efforts to make their collections free of animal cruelty. This is why PETA has created the PETA-Approved Vegan label to recognise all brands that respect animals. This way, people can more easily identify brands that are officially recognised for not exploiting animals.

Companies wishing to have the PETA-Approved Vegan label must apply on the official website and go through an approval process.

When they receive this approval, it means that they are a company/brand whose certified products do not contain any animal matter.

This is the case with Verney!

Besides having the PETA-Approved Vegan logo, which means that our products are animal-free, Verney is also a brand that does not test on animals.

We are an animal-friendly brand, and we don't want animals to suffer for the benefit of human welfare. Furthermore, there are many other ways of achieving a final product without having to use animals. Proof of this are the materials we use in our shoes!

As you can see, with willpower everything is possible, and it's not necessary to mistreat animals to produce beautiful and quality pieces.
